Dr. Yong-June Shin
Assistant Professor
Current research interests include:
His area of research is power engineering/ power electronics, with emphasis on power quality and harmonics. His research interests include advanced signal processing theory: time-frequency analysis, wavelets, and higher order statistical signal processing. Dr. Shin's current research interests are characterized by the application of novel digital signal processing techniques to a wide variety of important transient and nonlinear problems in science and engineering. His fields of interdisciplinary research extend to network communication engineering, measurement & instrumentation, and biomedical engineering.

Biography
Dr. Shin received his B.S degree from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea in 1996 with early completion honors and the M.S degree from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1997, under supervision of Professor W. J. Williams. He was a Graduate Research Assistant for ONR Electric Ship Research Project in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. From May 2001 to January 2003, he took a leave of absence to fulfill the military service obligation in Republic of Korea. He received his Ph.D in August 2004, under supervision of Professors E. J. Powers and W. Mack Grady. Since August 2004, he has been an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of South Carolina. He is a member of Seoul Science High School Alumni Society and is a recipient of GE Korean-American Education Commission scholarship.
