Dr. Paul Huray, EE Professor, Honored by Alma Mater


Dr. Paul Huray, EE Professor, has been honored as the 2010 Distinguished Alumnus by the Physics Department at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) at a ceremony on April 29 where he was a speaker for the department’s annual Honors Day celebration.

Dr. Huray earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics at UTK in engineering physics in 1964, followed by a PhD in physics in 1968.

He taught physics at the University of Tennessee Knoxville from 1969 to 1987. He has held other interesting positions such as being a Research Scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a Senior Policy Analyst at the White House Science Office. He came to the University of South Carolina in 1988 as a Senior Vice President for Research and in 2001 became a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department where he has played a key role in developing the Signal Integrity graduate program.

Dr. Huray published two books in 2009: (1) The Foundations of Signal Integrity and Maxwell’s Equations, published by Wiley-IEEE Press. He will be speaking in late May 2010 at the Workshop on High Speed Signal Integrity on “Bridging the Gap” at IMS 2010 in Anaheim, California.
