Professor Sudarshan awarded Carolina Trustee ProfessorshipProfessor T. S. Sudarshan, Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department since 2006, was awarded the prestigious Carolina Trustee Professorship last month. The award is given to a full professor who has demonstrated a record of teaching excellence as well as a record of outstanding performance in research and in public service activities. His Silicon Carbide Laboratory emphasizes novel techniques of the growth of silicon carbide bulk and epitaxial films and device/defect correlations. Professor Sudarshan won the university’s highest teaching award in 2006 when he was awarded the Michael J. Mungo Distinguished Professor of the Year award. He was a finalist for the Governor’s Distinguished Professor award selected by the Commission on Higher Education. He is a Carolina Distinguished Professor and has continuously held that appointment since 1986. Dr. Sudarshan has had a long and distinguished career at USC which has spanned almost 30 years.
