Congratulations to Helder Pais!
Hard work truly does pay off! The department is proud to announce the successful defense of Helder Pais' thesis, "An Improved Ship Design Tool for Comparing Performance of Multiple Ship Designs Across User-Defined Missions" on April 7, 2016. Helder presented improvements to existing ship design tools in the S3D environment, allowing for a concurrent collaboration of engineers during the entire design process. Equipment models were modified to provide information regarding time dependent metrics, and given the capacity to inform the mission analyzer tool if their dependencies have been satisfied. The mission analyzer is then able to simulate each of the disciplines for a specified time frame and provide results that indicate the ship's ability to complete a mission, and possible costs associated with that mission.

Congratulations Helder, we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors!
