Internal Search for New Department Chair in Electrical EngineeringThe Department of Electrical Engineering (www.ee.sc.edu) in the College of Engineering and Computing, University of South Carolina, seeks nominations and applications from within the University of South Carolina system for the position of Department Chair. The Department offers B.S., M.S., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering. This is an active and engaged Department with 15 faculty members, including 13 with current research funding and 4 NSF CAREER award winners. Enrollment is over 170 undergraduate and 112 graduate students, including more than 68 doctoral students. The EE Department has world class research programs in energy and power systems, in photonics and microelectronics, wireless communications and microwave engineering. In the latest National Research Council (NRC) survey, the USC EE Department doctoral program has been ranked nationally in the “Top Ten” in overall program quality and in faculty research productivity as well as first in the South in both areas. Applicants must have outstanding leadership and administrative skills, and credentials (including a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or related field) commensurate with appointment as a full professor with tenure. Nomination letters should include statements regarding the nominee’s relevant credentials. Applicants should submit a current CV, a statement of professional qualifications and vision, and the names, affiliations, and contact information of professional references.
