Dr. Roger Dougal, EE Professor, receives prestigious Carolina Trustee Professorship award

Professor Dougal, Thomas Gregory Professor of Electrical Engineering, was presented the prestigious Carolina Trustee Professorship award at a black tie commencement dinner on May 6. Two such awards are presented annually on the USC main campus to recognize outstanding members of the USC faculty. Prof. Dougal has taught the capstone design course for EE seniors for more than a decade, he leads an industry/university cooperative research center for Grid-connected advanced power electronic systems, and he coordinates the university’s efforts related to electric ship systems for the US Navy. In addition, he directs development of the Virtual Test Bed software, which is used for design and simulation of interdisciplinary dynamic systems. His research impacts the areas of renewable energy systems, smart grid, design methods and tools, and simulation technologies. He supervises more than a dozen graduate students, and leads a research group numbering more than 40 faculty, post-docs, graduate, and undergraduate students, executing more than a dozen research grants and contracts at any one time.
