Abstract:

Finite state machines and state-space analysis are disjoint techniques for simulation of physical systems, but when properly combined, they offer a high degree of flexibility. The application is to simulation of fault conditions for a voltage-source inverter supplying an ac induction motor. The thesis covers the equations and techniques used to integrate the techniques, and simulation comparisons of two induction motor models with recorded inverter fault data.
